What a splash! On Tuesday, October 11th TNDC held its 19th Annual Celebrity Pool Toss. More than 400 guests gathered poolside at the Phoenix Hotel to watch local personalities get silly before taking the plunge into the pool to raise funds for Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s (TNDC) After-School Program.

Founded in 1981, TNDC’s mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with support services for low-income people in the Tenderloin community. Co-hosted by actor Cindy Williams and TV host Suzanne Whang and co-chaired by Laura King Pfaff and Jim Losi, this year’s event raised more than $350,000 for children and families in the Tenderloin making it the most successful poll toss to date!

Emcees including TNDC's Celebrity Pool Toss founder and Joie de Vivre’s Chip Conley, MC Hammer, ABC7’s Cheryl Jennings, famed pastry chef Yigit Pura, Empress Donna Sachet, KRON & KCBS’ Jan Wahl introduced the tossees while guests bid on the chance to throw their favorite VIPs into the pool. Tosses included society photographer Drew Altizer, Forest City Enterprises’ Vice President Alexa Arena, Erin and Bryana Cullen, TNDC Executive Director Don Falk, Supervisor Jane Kim, Team Twitter and Charles Zukow of Charles Zukow Associates.

Since the first pool toss in 1992, the annual Celebrity Pool Toss has raised over $3 million for Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s Tenderloin After-School Program and other support services. Past participants have included Bay Area pro sports stars, Warren Hellman, Betsey Johnson, Don Johnson, Michael Tilson Thomas, Bob Weir, Robin Williams, Kristi Yamaguchi, Cindy Williams, Cheech Marin, Willie E.
