Presented by returning sponsor Kaiser Permanente, this year’s This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse (TOB) was a smashing success, raising $200,000 for low-income men and women battling breast cancer. In it’s 7th year, TOB, the major fundraiser for Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF), was held on October 21, 2011 at St. Regis, San Francisco.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while mingling and shopping without guilt for more than 200 handbags, purses, and other bags donated by celebrities, couture designers, local philanthropists and retailers. This year’s array of bags included a fabulous Isabella Rossellini Handbag donated by Bulgari, a classic versatile hand stitched clutch donated by Dior’s Brenda Zarate, autographed bags by Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Tiffany Thiessen Smith, Giant's Brian Wilson, bags by Gucci, Versace, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Judith Leiber, Louis Vuitton, a collection of signature handbags from Bloomingdale’s - one of the event’s returning sponsors - and much more…

The live auction, led by TOB's favorite auctioneer Lenny Broberg, included amazing travel packages, a Roger Vivier snakeskin shoulder bag autographed by Sharon Stone – one of TOB’s most fervent celebrity supporters-, an Yves Saint Laurent Muse2 bag from YSL spring/summer 2011 add campaign donated by Marius Carluci of YSL New York, a $10,000 Prada alligator doctor's bag donated by local philanthropist OJ Shansby and a Tory Burch Robinson Satchel with matching wallet signed by Scarlett Johansson.

We serve over 450 people annually in San Francisco, Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties. Since 2001, BCEF has provided over one million dollars in assistance to help people maintain financial stability during a devastating illness.
