Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama: An Unforgettable Night of Fashion and Upbeat Performances

In its thirtieth year, Macy’s Passport balanced once more “Compassion” with “Fashion”. Host Committee Chair Victoria Yeager Sawyer and Young Professionals Co-Chairs Michelle Curtis and Anderson Pugash along with Macy’s Inc CEO Terry Lundgren and many supporters and committee members including Thomas Gerula, Cynthia Hester, Arlene Inch, Michael Smith, Elise Friedman, Deepa Pakinathan and son Luke, Jorge Maumer, Tanya Powell, Delia Ehrlich, Debra Leylegian, Judy and Greg Jorgensen, Sandra Mandel, Anne Marie Massocca, Tom Noland and Larry Friesen, Maggie King, Edward Storm, Robert Chicotel, Armida Giglio, Rosemary Baker, Lauren Eastman, William Lai, Natalie Ocampo, Nikhil Raghavan, James Ushiba, Bahya Oumlil-Murad, Erik Noland, Justin Fichelson, Layne Gray, Deborah Bocci, Cortney Bocci, Charleston Pierce, Willie Brown and Sonya Molodetskaya, Miguel Bustos, Eve and Wallace Wertsch packed the Orpheum Theater on Friday, September 30th and enjoyed an incredibly energetic hour and fifteen minutes long show directed by Myron Johnson, one of the country’s most inventive choreographers and featuring nonstop pounding music, flashing lights, young enthusiastic performers and vibrant clothes.

The fashion show, mainly targeting a youthful audience, showcased hip looks by Tommy Girl, Macy’s Impulse, Armani Jeans, Kenneth Cole, Rachel Ray Roy, Calvin Klein, guest designer Tracy Reese, and much more.
Touching message by the evening beneficiaries - Glide Memorial Church, Aids Emergency Fund, and Project Open Hand- reminded guests about the importance and the need of helping those battling HIV/AIDS.

The event was punctuated with a tribute to founding chair Dame Elizabeth Taylor. Model Kathy Ireland introduced Taylor’s grandchildren Naomi and Tarquin Wilding who vowed to keep their grandmother’s vision vibrant. 36 year old Naomi mentioned: “I’ve been coming to Passport all my life […] by the time I was old enough to understand what AIDS was about, it had become a big deal for anyone thinking of dating or having a relationship.” She added, “She gave us a very strong sense that we had to continue to speak her message. She did not feel her work was done.”

Highlights of the evening were incredible upbeat performances by Far East Movement, the first Asian-American group with a #1 song, “Girls on the Dance Floor,” and a finale by Grammy Award winner Bruno Mars, whose “Just the Way You Are” stole the show, receiving a standing ovation from a cheery crowd.

Following the show, guests proceeded to the Asian Art Museum to attend the after-party. Guests enjoyed yummy treats by Taste Catering, Patron tequila cocktails, MAC makeup touchups as well as photo booths and silhouette stations.
